AHP805GA is specific for human calpain-10. Calpain-10 is a calcium activated protease, which is expressed ubiquitously. Calpain-10 differs from other calpains in that domain IV contains no EF hand motifs. Domain IV for calpain-10 is called the T domain. AHP805GA recognises this T domain, so will detect both the latent and active forms of calpain-10.
Calpain-10 is reported to be implicated in type 2 diabetes mellitus.
